On the southwest edge of St. Louis County, Eureka continues to stay a beautiful town even while offering modern comforts. Excellent schools, family entertainment, easy highway access for a commute, low crime, and plenty of natural beauty make Eureka an ideal place to raise a family. This suburb has both older and newly built homes, and residents often custom build homes to their taste. Summer homes and farmland are not uncommon.

Legend has it that when builders of the Missouri Pacific Railroad saw the flat land of this area, they were so overjoyed at how easy their work would be that they yelled “Eureka”—meaning “I have found it”—and hence the city got its name.

In 1898, Eureka became home to the St. Louis Children's Industrial Farm, a camp offering underprivileged children from St. Louis city a chance to experience life in a rural setting. This eventually became the Wyman Center, which is now one of the oldest camps in the United States.

The commute from Eureka is scenic, but not unreasonably long.  The neighborhood has access to Interstate 44 and Highway 109, also connecting Eureka to the surrounding towns of Wildwood, Chesterfield, and Ellisville.

Everyone knows everyone in Eureka. With community events like Eureka Days and annual barbeque competitions, it’s easy to get to know neighbors and lay down roots.  

It’s hard not to be outdoors in Eureka. There are several golf courses and acres of conversation land. For the thrill seekers, Six Flag St. Louis is just along I-44. Fun for the whole family, the park draws millions of visitors every year. The neighborhood even has its own slopes: Hidden Valley Ski Resort provides snow for skiers and boarders when winter months are milder.

Eureka is part of the prestigious Rockwood School District. The neighborhood also has a school of its own namesake, Eureka High School.

Bowlby Park | This 2.72-acre park contains a playground, bridge and fireman’s pole.

Drewel Park | A 16-acre park it features handball, basketball, and sand volleyball courts, outdoor classroom, pavilion with grills, and playground.

Hilltop Park | 34.7 acres, this park contains a pavilion with grills and fully stocked lake for fishing. Every November, an annual fishing derby is held.

Lions Park | This 14.25-acre park features two lighted tennis courts, two lighted athletic fields, two unlighted athletic fields, pavilion with grills, and playground.

Legion Park | An 11.37-acre park it contains four unlighted athletic fields, pavilion, playground, basketball court, and a pavilion with grills.

Kircher Park | Spanning 20.51 acres, Kircher Park contains two pavilions with electricity and grills, a restroom, and an accessible trail connection to Route 66 State Park.

West Frisco Park | An event space with a gazebo available for rental. There are no restrooms on site.
